Putting thoughts on paper is not for everyone.
Meaning that some people like to verbalize, have a dialogue, talk. They feel that a conversation is better than reading words on a paper or on a phone. It is difficult to fully understand a written message versus a spoken word.
Especially if the two people engaged in conversation are able to see one another.
Non-verbal cues are not transmitted by written words, unless the author explains the person’s composure or attitude the reader is left to speculate the tone of the message. When you can hear and see a person you get the whole intent of the message being delivered.
This is why sometimes people can get the wrong impression of the Bible. The tone of the speaker or writer is not easily known. Scripture must be viewed as it is meant to be. For example, in scripture there is symbolic, there is narrative, and there is poetic language. Often, a person can see that a statement is obviously one of these and other times the context of the book or chapter must be taken into account.
As each of us read and study the word of God, may we seek to understand it completely. When the Bible teaches us something, may we take it seriously and desire to be obedient to the Word of God. Putting our will aside and wanting to fulfill the will and purpose of God in our lives. We must rely on the written word of the Bible since this is how God has revealed Himself to mankind. May we do so ‘handling accurately the word of truth’ (2 Timothy 2:15).
