What Are Your Goals Biblically?
The month of June is coming to a close. The year 2026 will be halfway to completion. How are you doing with the goals you may have set for yourself in January? Are you meeting your goals? Did you even make any for this year? If so, please take a moment to evaluate your progress. If not, why not make some mid-year ones?
Goals are just that, they are not something that necessarily must be achieved. Striving to meet your goals shows a commitment to improving yourself in some way. That is definitely a biblical concept. God is watching you and desiring for you to be better in some way. Jesus taught that we must love God above all other things, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).
He also taught we are to take up our cross and follow Him daily (Luke 9:23). This should be our daily goal or commitment to the Lord God of Heaven.
There are other smaller or incremental goals a Christian could make to help move toward those larger goals. First, a self-examination is necessary. Honestly ask yourself how you are treating these things that Jesus taught. If you are not reading and studying the Bible on your own, perhaps that is where you should begin. If you do not have an active prayer life, increasing your time in prayer may be where you need to start. The list will be dependent upon an honest evaluation of your own commitment.
Perhaps you are not serving the Lord as much as you can. Look for ways to serve. There are a number of ways you can do this. Many different works are available for you to be a part of here at Pacific. Please, do not wait to be asked, ask to serve. One significant thing all of us can do is to show the love of God, the kindness of Christ, and the concern for the lost by inviting people to services. That may be the exact thing someone is looking for, a personal invitation to services. Please take a moment this week and decide what is best for you to become closer to the Lord.
Then go and do it.
