Mother's Day

It is Mother’s Day! When this day comes each year, it is always with a sense of admiration to this writer. Godly mothers are such a wonderful addition to the world. Their care, love, and example to their children and others within their circle of influence is a testament to their faith-filled life.

The Bible gives principles for all Christians to put into place in their lives. When this is done well, the results are that God is glorified. The light of a faith filled life is a beautiful thing to see.

Honoring mothers began with one person seeking to do so for their own mother. This led to the current celebration that occurs each second Sunday of May.

Some have thought that the card companies, and maybe the flower or candy businesses began the tradition, but that is not the case.

The Bible gives us many examples of godly people to learn from and be able to know how to live our lives in a godly fashion. Many such women come to mind, Eve, Naomi, Sara, Eunice, and Mary, the mother of Jesus.

Each of them lived godly lives and sought to be what God desired for them to be. As each of us honor the mothers that are in our lives, may we be able to do so in a way that also honors the Lord.

God instituted the family, a mother and father, for a good reason. It helps us to know Him (Isaiah 66:13)

May we all do our best to live for Him and make today special for a mother in your life.
