Little Gifts
Hard to imagine a time when modern conveniences were not present. Things that we use every day are often taken for granted. We go into our homes expecting the lights to come on when the switch is flipped. The temperature to be controlled by our HVAC system. The water comes out of the faucet when we pull or turn the knobs on the sink or shower.
The list goes on and on. When any of these things do not happen as we expect, there is a problem. These have been called ‘first-world’ problems for a reason.
Even though these things are readily available in a lot of places, they are not uniformly available everywhere.
Some third world places do not enjoy these conveniences as most do in the USA and other countries.
In some places, these niceties would be foreign concepts. There are places that do not have good running water supplied, electricity is hit or miss. HVAC systems are non-existent. Strange to most of us reading this article.
What’s the point? If we are not careful, we will begin to take for granted many things. One thing that should be cherished is our salvation. Salvation is open to everyone. Unlike the modern conveniences, our salvation is promised to those who are faithful. It is not dependent upon where a person lives or the lifestyle they may enjoy.
God, in His infinite wisdom and love, allows anyone to make the choice to serve Him in Christ. What a wonderful gift to His creation, mankind. May we never take for granted His mercy, love, grace, and the gift of His only begotten Son.
