Is God In Your New Year
The year has begun! Today’s article appears in the first bulletin of 2026. As we begin this new year may we all seek to know and draw closer to God each and every day. Something this writer heard a long time ago still rings true. Each day a person is either drawing closer to God or they are moving away.
May it be said of all of us here at Pacific, that we desire to draw closer to the Almighty God of Heaven.
The holiday season here in our country is a busy time of year. Each January may seem like a time to relax. Hopefully, each of us was able to take some time to reflect during the last few weeks of 2025 and are ready to take on the new year with a resolve to live for Christ with a great zeal.
Many scriptures point out the need to be diligent and devoted to the Lord and His church. Here are just a couple of reminders:
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
1 Thessalonians 4:1 Finally then, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that you excel still more.
Philippians 1:9-10 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.
Realizing how much Jesus gave up for each of us is a great motivator to live for Him. The Lord Jesus loved us more than most acknowledge. May we all strive to honor Him in obedience to show our love in return.
Yes, the new year is upon us. What will 2026 have in store for you? That remains to be seen, but the wonderful thing is that the Lord has promised to be with us and to provide for us. May we recognize the opportunities He allows us to have and concentrate on spreading the good news to everyone that we can. Happy New Year to each of you and may God keep you in His loving care all of this year and many more to come.
