Bulletin Articles
Why do preachers and others write bulletin articles each week? Well, there are many reasons that come to my mind. One of them is that this preacher enjoys writing as much as he enjoys reading (which is a lot). So, that is one motivating factor. Even if only one person (meaning, my wife) reads the article, then the effort was worth it to me. Another reason might be that the leaders of the church think it is a good idea to have an article each week to feed the local congregation or give them spiritual nourishment. That is certainly a biblical principle and a good reason.
Scripture teaches us that all (meaning everything) we do should be done to bring glory to the God of Heaven. Jesus taught that disciples are to be lights in a dark world who shine, by doing good works, so that people will glorify God (Matthew 5:16). The inspired apostle Paul would tell the Christians in Collosae that whatever we do should be done in the name of the Lord as we give thanks to the Father through Him (Colossians 3:17). Those two passages really sums up every activity we may find ourselves doing any day at any time.
Wow. That is really something to consider as we live our lives. Before a Christian does anything the thought should go through our minds as to how God can be glorified in this activity, word, or situation. And another might be, would Jesus approve of the way I am going to handle this situation?
So, it is easy to get caught up in what each of us may want or need and not consider that the most important thing is to honor God and His Son in all things we find ourselves doing.
The gist of this article then and the best reason articles are written each week is to remind everyone of us to honor Jesus and bring glory to the God of Heaven. To be pleasing to the Heavenly Father allows us all to deal with everyone in the best possible way
